Our Story

Poultons is more than just a shed company, for us it is a way of life, and we thrive on the challenges set for us by our customers, be it a Gothic style Chicken House or a two storey cricket pavilion.

Poulton Portables originated in Danbury, Essex but in 2000 a sister company was founded in Shaftesbury, Dorset, by the Sadd Family, who had a long history within the timber business. The following year a young twenty year old Dan Winter joined the team and quickly set about learning all aspects of timber buildings from the bottom up.

Still here and loving the new challenges

In 2006, Jim Hinde was brought in to help develop the sales and marketing side of the business, but he was also keen to better understand the process of designing and selling timber buildings.

Dan and Jim quickly formed a close friendship, working together and drawing on each other’s experience, and thus it was only logical that when, in 2011, the Sadd Family wished to retire and sell the business that Dan and Jim jumped at the opportunity to purchase the company.

It has proved to be an excellent decision and six years on we are still building bigger and better buildings.
